As Finance Director and Actuary on our Life & Annuity Valuation team, you will be a leader responsible for overseeing universal life valuation operations. In this highly visible role, you'll manage a team, communicate financial results and insights to senior management, and present deliverables to the Board of Directors. |
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
- Estimated Salary: $180,000 - $220,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Lead and Manage Your Team: Oversee and develop a high-performing team responsible for valuation operations, ensuring all personnel management functions align with enterprise and department goals.
- Develop Models and Strategies: Create or guide the development of models for universal life and indexed universal life valuation, risk analysis, and business planning. Assess experience trends and recommend assumptions for reserve calculations.
- Enhance Risk Management: Utilize stochastic modeling and other advanced techniques to provide insight into asset-related, economic, and policyholder behavior assumptions, while helping the company monitor risk tolerances and checkpoints.
- Communicate Financial Insights: Take ownership of delivering valuation financial results and trends to senior management and the Board of Directors. Ensure that complex technical findings are presented clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with departments such as Investments, Capital Management, and Financial Planning to drive enterprise-wide initiatives, optimizing the company’s risk/return profile.
- Peer Review and Mentorship: Provide peer reviews of actuarial work, ensuring accuracy and rigor. Serve as a mentor within the department, fostering growth and ensuring the team is up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Stay informed on the latest valuation techniques and risk assessment methodologies. Identify opportunities to enhance processes and elevate standards for reporting and analysis.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA): With relevant experience, you’ll bring deep actuarial expertise to the role, enabling you to guide strategy and decision-making with authority. You must also be a PBR-qualified actuary, with demonstrated experience in principle-based reserves.
- Expertise in Valuation and Modeling: You’ll have a strong understanding of individual life insurance products, asset classes, and valuation requirements, with proven experience in applying these skills.
- Creative Problem Solver: You bring both actuarial rigor and creativity to your work, identifying ways to lower risk without sacrificing return or enhance returns without increasing risk.
- Strong Business Judgment: You possess the insight to recognize when experience trends or issues warrant adjustments in standard approaches, ensuring the company remains agile and responsive.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: As a natural leader, you excel in managing teams and communicating complex concepts with clarity, whether you’re addressing technical colleagues or senior leadership.
- Collaboration and Influence: You value partnership across the organization and know how to build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the success of cross-functional projects.

- Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

- Experience with universal life and indexed universal life insurance products.
- Valuation experience, particularly in applying key valuation techniques and meeting regulatory requirements.
