We’re looking for a visionary Domain Architect to lead the design of secure, scalable, and integrated technology solutions across application, data, and integration layers.  This role bridges enterprise strategy and solution delivery, shaping platforms that enhance customer experience and drive Mutual of Omaha’s modernization journey. 

As the Lead Domain Architect, you will define and communicate a shared technical vision supporting Financial Solutions. You’ll provide architectural leadership across the full product lifecycle—ensuring solutions are intuitive, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards. Your ability to simplify complexity, influence direction, and collaborate across disciplines will be pivotal in advancing Mutual of Omaha’s commitment to growth and operational excellence. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary: $160,000 - $185,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead Architectural Vision: Define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision for the ART, ensuring alignment with business priorities and enterprise guardrails. 

  • Drive Domain Strategy: Translate enterprise principles into actionable strategies, create architecture roadmaps, and provide governance for solution designs across multiple products within the Financial Solutions domain.  These include capabilities across the full business value stream – pricing & quoting, underwriting and issue, administration and billing, benefits, and service.   

  • Foster Innovation: Identify emerging technologies, lead proofs-of-concept, and implement patterns that enhance scalability, security, and user experience. 

  • Enable Agile Delivery: Collaborate with Solution Architects, Product Owners, and stakeholders; participate in PI planning and ceremonies; mentor teams on architectural runway and best practices. 

  • Manage Lifecycle Evolution: Oversee modernization initiatives, legacy system decoupling, and cloud migration strategies to ensure long-term scalability and resilience. Drive clarity and governance of architecture for approximately 8 delivery teams within the Agile Release Train, comprised of nearly 120 associates. 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • 5+ years of enterprise architecture experience across data, application, integration, and cloud domains within the Financial Services industry. Proven success leading domain-level architecture across multiple products and teams.  

  • Expertise in domain-driven design, event-based systems, and modern API development. 

  • Ability to balance business priorities with technical feasibility and act as a trusted advisor. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience influencing diverse teams, across mid-level IS and business leaders as well as delivery focused team.  Daily activities will include refining portfolio epics to achieve business and technical outcomes, providing domain level architectural designs, assessing feasibility of technology solutions, estimating effort, validating proposed solution designs.  Proven ability to judge complexity, integration risks, or system performance implications.  

  • Familiarity with SAFe framework and Agile Release Train collaboration patterns. Commitment to continuous learning, inclusion, and agile culture.

  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED:

  • TOGAF Certified with Financial Services industry experience, particularly with Institutional Annuity and Investment products. 
  • Experience with any or all of the following:  Agentic AI based solution architecture, data architecture within the financial institutional investment and annuity domain, product definition architecture
  • Familiarity with  AWS, event streaming (Kafka), and integration platforms (MuleSoft),  containers/Kubernetes, REST and event-driven integration, runtime behavior (scaling, resiliency), CI/CD, observability, and security (OAuth2, secrets management).
