The Associate Special Risk Underwriter (or Special Risk Underwriter, depending on experience) works all product lines within our Special Risk portfolio including, but not limited to: Intercollegiate Sports (ICS), K-12, Catastrophic (CAT), Custom, Motorsports, Rodeo, Gymnastics, Jockeys, Mandatory Student Accident (MSA) and Girl Scouts.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications):
    • Associate Special Risk Underwriter: $23.50 - $28.50 per hour, plus annual bonus opportunity.
    • Special Risk Underwriter: $25.00 - $31.50 per hour plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Analyzes data related to the risk being Underwritten to determine what benefits, if any, can be offered and at what rates in order to mitigate financial risk to the company.
  • Communicates with policy owners, applicants, brokers, agencies and/or other sources concerning underwriting decisions and procedures.
  • Assures that work is monitored for quantity and quality, and that work improvements in performance and productivity are identified and implemented on a continuous basis.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • 4-year college degree is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to make decisions and justify those decisions with sound and logical reasoning.
  • Strong Mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Willingness to travel 5%-10% annually.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Ability to work at our home office located in Omaha, Nebraska, in a hybrid environment.

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge and experience with Excel, Sales Database, and JIRA systems. 

  • Previous special risk underwriting skills and experience.
